whenever I try to open a pdf file within a new tab, tab content renders the previous opened tab content. Only when I mouse over the document does this layer disappear to let pdf content show up.
Also, in a randomly fashion, when pdf open title bar becomes all transparent and freezes, and I cannot resize window or close browser using the three buttons at the upright corner of the browser.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click on a pdf link
2.New tab open with previous tab content
3.Mouse over makes pdf content appear
Actual Results:
pdf rendering corruption
Expected Results:
pdf content rendered without rendering corruption
Having a pdf open in a tab also breaks louse wheel scrolling in other tabs.

Which version of the PDF reader are you using? Does it work when you are using Firefox 3.6.x?
Version 9.3.4
No, firefox 3.6.10 is not affected, neither by rendering or scrolling issue.

I am getting the same issue. The problem is the Adobe Reader plugin is not repainting when the user switches to the tab that contains it. This is why you see the previous tab's contents. I have a feeling its due to the new D3D10 layers implementation, as this bug did not appear a while back with D3D9.
The title bar becoming transparent is another bug which has already been marked fixed a few nightlies back.
You should file another bug for the mouse scrolling problem.

So what happens when you disable hardware acceleration?
Comment 6•15 years ago

Huh well I was about to test it with the layers d3d9 pref turned on and then with layers disabled, but I just upgraded to yesterday's build and I can't reproduce it! Wonder what bug fix sneaked into this build that made it work. I'll keep you guys up to date when I meet the bug again, if I do.
Ok,
tried it with 3d9 and 3d10 turned off and on, results are the same. One more clue: it always happens when I use tab candy while a pdf tab is opened. When I come back to the browser from tab candy, pdf is wrongly painted, browser window becomes half transparent, and then when I switch between tabs, when I go back to PDF tab it is covered by preivous tab's content until I mouse over it. In my case at least, looks like there is something to do with tab candy. I am using latest hourly build.
I'll attach a picture of the issue.

Okay I can confirm that it happens when I use TabCandy.
Btw, the titlebar bug is bug 545892.

Have you completely disabled HW-acceleration? There is a setting under preferences | advanced. Please test if that helps in combination with Panorama.

Yes. Nothing new.

Can you solve the rendering glitch when switching between open tabs? Or will the tab with the acrobat reader plugin never be redrawn after using Panorama?

Switching does not change the matter in anyway. Pdf is always covered by last active tab's content. Only when I scroll randomly in pdf using the mouse does pdf's content appear.

Boris, looks like this is the same as bug 609685 now?

Doesn't seem obviously a duplicate, no. Might be related.

I'm not able to reproduce this using the latest nightly and Acrobat plugin version: 9.4.0.195, when opening one of the links in the following page in a new tab: http://www.irs.gov/app/picklist/list/formsInstructions.html
What I do see is that going in and out of Panorama will not render correctly the tab containing the pdf, until you click on a different tab and click back on said tab.

A similar thing happens on 4b7.

This looks to be a duplicate of bug 594421.

I can confirm this in the latest nightly. Instead of the plugin not rendering correctly, it looks like the Aero borders are intruding into plugin space. Switching tabs works around this issue.

Same here. Transparency leaks into pdf when coming out of panorama.

This and bug 612563 seem to be twins.

Adding Frank Yan, as I suspect he might have a theory.

I see this without ever opening Panorama.
Don't have a theory at the moment, but I'll investigate.

What are the current STR? I'm having trouble understanding the bug, since it seems to have morphed at least once.

I just realized that this issue also occurs when simply resizing the pdf tab window in order to make it bigger. The parts of the pdf that were not included in the initial tabs are wrongly painted as they appear in the bigger tab. Once again it looks like it mixes up with aero as these parts are in fact semi-transparent so that I can see my desktop behind it.

looks like #598754 bug fixed the issue.

How much of what's reported here is still an issue?
Comment 33•14 years ago

Please reopen with specific STR if you are still seeing this.
