After automatic updates for one or more add-ons have been applied a notification could give instructions how to disable automatic updates. Probably that should only appear once. That's a proposal from Mike on bug 511529.
Not sure if we want that. But filing the bug to get an official statement.

While users should always have control over the update behavior, from both a security and usability perspective we don't want to actively encourage users to disable automatic updates.
