Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101020 Firefox/4.0b8pre Firefox crashes while viewing above real player video. Steps to reproduce : 1. Install the real player plugin from http://in.real.com/?mode=rp 2. Play the above video Actual results : Firefox hangs and then crashes with a message The RealPlayer(tm) G2 LiveConnect-Enabled (32-bit plugin has crashed) Crash stats : http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/ccf5f53c-876b-4c49-b214-e1f252101021 http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/824ff7d0-1819-4f97-8603-c16e72101021 http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-df042616-438c-4021-abb9-308452101021 http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/879fe0bc-ea6a-48c0-be4d-0a2ac2101021
The first time I loaded the page I got a plugin crash, and I reloaded the page and then the video played. There was no Fx hang, and no Fx crash. I can't reproduce the problem as described on a week-old build, nor with the most recent nightly. The instructions above don't mention which type of installation it is (I have the option to install several bundled things). Mine is: nprphtml5videoshim.dll 1.0.0.0 (RealPlayer(tm) HTML5VideoShim Plug-In) Aravind, could you include the contents of about:support in an attachment to this bug?

if gfx.direct2d.force-enabled is true, then the plugin does not crash. if gfx.direct2d.force-enabled is false, then the plugin crashes.

I get no Firefox crash, what crashes for me is the plugin container, which runs the plugins in a separate process as the browser itself.
(In reply to comment #6) > I get no Firefox crash, what crashes for me is the plugin container, which runs > the plugins in a separate process as the browser itself. Confirm. In my Minefield (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101210 Firefox/4.0b8pre ID:20101210030339) plugin container crashed. After refresh page, video run normaly.
I think this is most likely a plugin problem. I can only reproduce this on 64-bit versions of Windows. On 32-bit versions of Windows this is not reproducible (at least for me). Since the plugin is a 32-bit plugin, this is possibly a problem with the plugin and not Firefox. If someone can provide proof of this failing on a 32-bit version of Windows in Firefox or can provide proof of this NOT failing in a different browser on 64-bit Windows, that would probably disprove my claim.
I was just able to reproduce this on 32-bit Vista -- so it seems like my claim in comment 8 is flawed. I had to keep reloading the page until it would reproduce (took about 12 tries).
(In reply to comment #9) > I was just able to reproduce this on 32-bit Vista -- so it seems like my claim > in comment 8 is flawed. I had to keep reloading the page until it would > reproduce (took about 12 tries). Unable to reproduce using Firefox 3.5.17, so it appears to be a Firefox 4 regression (OOPP related?)

Closing old bugs in the Plugins component. We aren't going to track issues in 3rd-party plugins in the Mozilla bug tracker. In addition, support for NPAPI plugins will be removed at the end of this year; for more details see the post at https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/ If there is a serious bug in Firefox, it needs to be filed in the "Core" product, "Plug-Ins" component.
