Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.11) Gecko/20101012 Firefox/3.6.11 GTB7.1 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET4.0E)
When starting, the specific script below hangs up. The box with the 'Stop Script' option may appear as many as six times.
file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsBlocklistService.js:648
(I have seen '648' so often, I know it as well as my address!)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Mozilla Firefox. I have five tabs that open as my 'Home' page. The URL above is where I get the script problem.
2. Keep clicking 'Stop script', but to no avail.
3.
Actual Results:
Eventually (several minutes, and several clicks later) the tab loads.
Expected Results:
Load the tab without the script hanging it up.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13pre) Gecko/20101028 Namoroka/3.6.13pre
Works for me. There is no script error.
Please try if it works fine in safe mode try by creating a new profile.

It works for you? That figures. Aaagh!
Any ideas about what could be causing it?
Thanks.

Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
How about with a new, empty profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile

My desktop 'died' (motherboard issues), and apparently so has the problem. I am now on a laptop that is no more powerful, but the problem hasn't happened (yet) on this machine.
I am wondering if the problem was that my 'Home Page' was actually five different tabs, if the usual culprit this page: http://finance.yahoo.com/charts?s=^GSPC#chart2:symbol=^gspc;range=1d;indicator=macd+stochasticslow+mfi;charttype=candlestick;crosshair=cross;ohlcvalues=1;logscale=on;source=undefined.
I will get back to you if it happens again.
