609097 - Neither "Settings" nor "Compose Mail" will load using v3.6.12

Since I have upgraded to 3.6.12 neither the gmail "settings" nor the "compose mail" links produce anything. When clicked on, the word "Loading..." appears at the top of the UI but nothing ever loads; the activity monitor in the lower left corner of the screen changes quickly to "Done". I have left it alone for 1 hr. without results. During this time, no other link will work and it is necessary to refresh the refresh the page to stop the "Loading..." process. Other links seem to work properly.  I have disabled all my Firefox addons without any change in the behavior. I can toggle directly to the same address and page in IE8 and the problem disappears.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open gmail account
2.Click either "Settings" (links bar upper right} or "Compose Mail"
3.Immediately, the word "Loading" will appear top center and the word "Done in bottom left but neither the composition screen nor the settings directory will ever appear unless the page is switched to IE8
Actual Results:  
Nothing happens on the screen. No other links will work, Neither of the requested actions occurs.

Expected Results:  
When done in IE8, the "Settings" directory or the email composition screen will appear in 2 seconds or less.

My gmail theme is a simple yellow background. It is not one of Google's offered themes.

During the troubleshooting process I also deleted all browser cookies including flash cookies and allowed them to be repopulated. It did not correct the problem.

Further investigation: while Gmail is trying to load either the Settings or the composition screen, some of the email functions will work wile others won't. "Contacts" and "Tasks" are not functional during this time but it is possible to open mail folders and inbox mail while "Loading..." is going on.

Go to about:config in your location bar, in the Filter box type: dom.storage.enabled

double click to set it to true

Clear all your cookies and then try again.

Toggling "dom.storage.enabled" from false to true has corrected the condition with all the previously non-functional links. All my accounts work correctly.

It would help to know what addons you have installed, we'd like to figure out which one might be responsible for turning this off.

1) do you have BetterPrivacy installed? If so which version?

2) if not would you mind sharing your entire list with us?
  a) Click the "Troubleshooting Information..." item on the help menu
  b) Copy the Extensions section (only)
  c) paste here
