flah loads faster and displays smoother when running in an older version of firefox on ubuntu 10.10.



Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.go to a flash site in firefox 3.6
2.start firefox from the latest source and go to the same site
3. observe the speed differences
Actual Results:  
video or animations are slower in the new version.

Expected Results:  
flash performance to be the same or better.

buggy video drivers
ati mobility
emerald & compiz were enabled.
ubuntu 10.10 with xfce & kde instaled (run on gnome)

Similar to bug 591687, but this is Linux-specific....

Async layers landed on Linux in b7, so this should be retested with b7. If there is still a noticeable problem, we'll need profiles. (And it would be good to know exactly what site you see this with, because there are huge variations depending on windowless/windowed configuration and whether the plugin claims to be transparent.
pick any youtube video, and start it fullscreen. In minefield, for me, it is at least twice as jerky.
I have also had problems with games not loading/loading slowly. (most online flash games)
Not blocking unless someone can confirm this, if so, please renominate.

I'm not reproducing an difference.
And a difference would be hard to explain because Firefox is almost uninvolved with fullscreen flash video.

Are you sure the same Flash Player is used in each situation?
(Check about:plugins.)
Does disabling compositing change things?
