I was testing the new home page on stage and clicked the search box without entering anything and got the following message:


searches sites including: http://support.mozilla.com, *.mozillamessaging.com/*, http://www.spreadthunderbird.com, wiki.mozilla.org/*, developer.mozilla.org/*

Keywords: mozilla mozilla.org mozilla.com firefox thunderbird seamonkey camino

We should probably revisit the list of sites and keywords since a lot of sites have been added or changed since then.  Fixing the behavior where this comes up for users would be another bug.

Closing old Mozilla.org website bugs due to them not being relevant to the new Python-based Bedrock system. Re-open if this is a critical bug and should be resolved on the new system too.

Chris, your list will be a great help with this.  

I haven't had a chance to look into this, but it is worth doing.  I'll try to do it soon, unless someone else has a strong desire to do it instead :)

I was about to file the same bug. Moving the component as the search box is in Tabzilla.

The current list is surely outdated:

Kohei, thanks for moving this bug to the right place.  I think this is an important bug to fix so that we can help people find the right information.

I'm not sure if there's an upper limit to the number of sites we could add to the list, but one possibility to consider is to index all active Mozilla sites.  There is a list of Mozilla sites at:

As you might know, Bug 1151579 has replaced Tabzilla with a static Mozilla tab. The old assets are still available, but no site is probably using it. Closing all Tabzilla-related open bugs at this moment.
