Details

Please work with Katie Guernsey from the Foundation on the details. Please flow the names for Drumbeat newsletter signups into Responsys. Responsys fields: DRUMBEAT_NEWS_FLG DRUMBEAT_NEWS_DATE EMAIL_FORMAT_ (note the second underscore) thank you! -Eve
Katie, I'd like to chat about details of where this reg. form should go. Do you have time for a short phone meeting today?
You are on the west coast, yes? I can talk later... like around 4pm. 805-798-0243 Please also refer to that email I just sent for detail. Katie

I'm here, btw.
From https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=609760#c6 Ok- follow up marching orders for Alex: 1. Put sign up form somewhere on mozilla.org 2. Research/Inquire with Paul if you can put a sign up form on drumbeat.org as well! 3. Inquire with Paul about writing donor information (after a donation has been made on BSD) to ResponSys either through a daily batch upload/write or an API call/write. Thanks Alex. P.S. Current Newsletter sign up link: https://www.drumbeat.org/signup-for-drumbeat-newsletter

Paul, heads up, this includes taking down the reg. form here, https://www.drumbeat.org/signup-for-drumbeat-newsletter and redirecting it to the new reg. form. I can file a drumbeat bug for that if you like.
(In reply to comment #7) > and redirecting it to the new reg. form. I can file a drumbeat bug for that if > you like. Or, we could use bug 610052 even
Hi Chelsea, For our new sign up form that will be replacing the drumbeat.org one... do you have an opinion about the URL? Look?: > 1. Put sign up form somewhere on mozilla.org Any specifics on where you want this (e.g. page/URL) and what you want it to look like? Alex is currently working with Paul to get one up on Drumbeat.org as soon as Batucada is live. Best, Katie
A few questions: 1) Why have multiple signup forms? (One on mozilla.org and one on drumbeat.org?). As I understand it, there will be some static pages about Drumbeat hosted on mozilla.org that will provide some info + links to drumbeat.org. Could we not simply have a link there that directs people to a form on drumbeat.org? 2) Users signing up for accounts on drumbeat.org will be asked if they would like to sign up for a newsletter. If this is the only signup form for the Drumbeat newsletter, we can then have a task that writes this information to Responsys in real-time. Can someone provide me with documentation for Responsys' API so that I can assess the feasibility of this?
Depends on: 614093
1) My thought was the following: wonder if people want to sign up for the newsletter and NOT sign up for a Drumbeat Account? That was my thinking. Would like to have Chelsea's input on this. 2) I think Alex should be able to get you this.
(In reply to comment #11) > 1) My thought was the following: wonder if people want to sign up for the > newsletter and NOT sign up for a Drumbeat Account? We can include a checkbox in the signup process as well as a stand-alone form on drumbeat.org. > 2) I think Alex should be able to get you this. Great. Thanks!

So, if I understand, we're not putting a reg. form on mozilla.org, but rather replacing the existing on on drumbeat.org, right? Paul, you mentioned you're not making changes to the Drupal code. When does batucada release? I'll find some Responsys docs for you. In short, it's feasible, via either a SOAP API, or you can copy a CSV file to a directory on a Responsys server and set up a job to upload that file every day.
We are ready to put up this form now. The original plan was to definitely have one on Mozilla.org because Alex can do it quickly, has the time, and it isn't complicated, etc. If putting the form on drumbeat.org causes Paul an inconvenience because he wasn't planning on working on this this week or causes delays in getting the form up, we should continue with the mozilla.org plan and wait to put the form on drumbeat.org at a later date. Let us know Paul.

Sure, if putting it up on mozilla.org is the quickest thing to do, just go ahead and do that. I don't have any time to dedicate to this, so if Alex is free, that's great.
Yes, he's on loan. :) Chelsea, can you please choose a URL for the sign up page on Mozilla.org? Thanks, Katie
Looping in Bowsell as he is Mr. Mozilla.org David, where would be the most logical place to put a sign up for the drumbeat newsletter form on Mozilla.org (I realize that there's not currently a drumbeat section on Mozilla.org, but that one is in the works). Is there an interim solution?
Re question in comment #18, I agree that having this on the soon-ish to be launched mozilla.org/drumbeat page(s) is the best fit. Other than that, perhaps the mozilla.org/foundation page is the best existing page to use (although that isn't a perfect fit either). Another option is to set up a newsletter landing page on mozilla.org, like the newsletter landing page on mozilla.com at https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/newsletter/ We could have this at mozilla.org/drumbeat or mozilla.org/drumbeat/newsletter and put a very simple design in place and then point people there. I'm not sure though if you'd rather have a dedicated page for this or if you were looking to have this be in-line with an existing page that is already getting traffic.
Alex, What is the status of this? Are you waiting on anything? When is the launch date for the form? Thanks, Katie
(In reply to comment #20) > Alex, > > What is the status of this? Are you waiting on anything? When is the launch > date for the form? > > Thanks, > Katie Sorry, I've been distracted by the mobile and redesign projects. I'll get a reg. form on mozilla.org this week. Since no one has defined copy/style, I'll just wing it I guess, copying from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/newsletter/ I'm going to put this page at http://www.mozilla.org/drumbeat/newsletter Paul, at some point we'll need to deal with the existing reg. form https://www.drumbeat.org/signup-for-drumbeat-newsletter I'm thinking we could just add a .htaccess rewrite rule, and redirect people the mozilla.org page. Thoughts?
Yes, as soon as the ResponSys system is live, we need to disable the one that writes to Mailchimp. Chelsea, if you have any thoughts on design, look or feel, please post here. Thanks to everyone.
Could you have the privacy policy link point to the page on the .org site please? http://www.mozilla.org/about/policies/privacy-policy.html
It now points to that in the e-mail template.
Alex, the registration page for Drumbeat Newsletter looks nice. Please add this in smaller print below the headline as a subheadline (before the form starts): Stay connected to Mozilla Drumbeat. Sign up for our newsletter. Thank you! Eve
