Details
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but it's a change in behavior from
previous netscape versions.
In previous versions, if you're reading mail or news, if you give focus to the
window that contains the text of the message, then hit 'n' to get to the next
unread message, focus remains in the window that contains the text of the message.
Now, when you hit 'n' it sends focus back to the window that contains the
message headers, forcing you to give focus back to the message window if you
want to scroll up/down.
This new behavior requires a lot more key/mouse strokes to quickly go through
messages when you have to scroll the messages.

Reporter is this still a problem in the latest nightlies?
Worksforme that focus stays in message pane when using N for next unread or use
spacebar.
Marking worksforme using 2000-12-14-04 commercial trunk build win98.

In the 12/06 build, it works properly for mail, but does not work for news.
I'll try the most recent nightly and see what happens there.

Reopening since I just tried it in the dec18 commercial trunk win98 build. It
works fine for mail but not for news.
If it works for news for you guys, then you can move it back to WORKSFORME.
