+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #609257 +++

Turn off about:memory reporting in "A Week in the Life of a Browser" for Linux (64 and 32 bit) FF4.0 beta 7. We are doing this to work around a bug that appears to be linux-specific. If we later see data that says this is more platforms we'll blacklist them as well

Bumping this up as a blocker as we need it done before tomorrow.

Done in http://hg.mozilla.org/labs/testpilotweb/rev/2075cacae48f and pushed out to the test pilot study feed. Test Pilot users will get the update when they restart Firefox (or in 24 hours if they leave Firefox running).

I added the conditional in such a way that 4.0b7 and 4.0b7pre are both affected, and any OS string with "Linux" in the name will be affected.

Can someone please verify that this avoids the crash? (I recommend starting a new profile with Feedback or Test Pilot.)

Now "A Week in the Life of a Browser" starts without problems, at least for me (openSUSE 11.3 x86_64, firefox 4.0b7, gcc 4.5.0).
Similarly, the user_pref("extensions.testpilot.popup.showOnNewStudy", false); property (see Bug #609257) does not crash firefox when I launch it.
