User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0b7) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0b7) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b7 Right click search should open in a new window instead of in a new tab within current window when tabbed browsing disabled. In the "Tabs" tab of "Tools->Options" window When: 1. Unchecked "Open new window in a new tab instead" and 2. Unchecked "Always show the tab bar" Then search some keywords through right click menu item "Search Google for..." to open search result in a new window instead of in a new tab within current window. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Tools->Options to open "Options" windows, then click the "Tabs" tab 2. Unchecked "Open new window in a new tab instead" 3. Unchecked "Always show the tab bar" 4. Open anyone web page 5. search some keywords through right click menu item "Search Google for..." to open search result 6. Search result opened in a new tab within current window. It SHOULD open in a new window because "Open new window in a new tab instead" unchecked and "Always show the tab bar" unchecked. Actual Results: Search result opened in a new tab within current window. Expected Results: Search result through context search SHOULD open in a new window instead of in a new tab within current window When: 1. Unchecked "Open new window in a new tab instead" and 2. Unchecked "Always show the tab bar" It means user want go surfing window by window, that is to say, disable tabbed browsing completely. Search result through context search SHOULD open in a new window instead of in a new tab within current window

Both options do not disable the tabbed browsing mode. The setting for "Open in new window" is only for links which force to load the target in a new window. But that's not the case for the context menu search. It always opens the search results in a new tab. Dao, marking as invalid?

I really think this should be treated as either a bug or feature request. From the user point of view, "Open new windows in a new tab instead" is pretty self-explanatory and means "open all and everything in new windows". Users cannot see the developers mind on what he/she really meant by "instead". A lot of people hate tabbed browsing, but the recent FF seems to force them get used to it or gtfo.
