User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101114 Firefox/4.0b8pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101114 Firefox/4.0b8pre Since the last few nightlies switching between tabs in combination with flash-video seems broken. When I have a Vimeo video (seems easiest to test) running in one tab and switch to an other tab and back, the part of the screen where the video should be running is not updated. It is just showing the last image before switching, the video is still running I can see the packets on the wire and hear the sound. I can also click to pause and start playing again. This is on 64-bit Ubuntu 10.10 (Radeon X1950 GT with KMS/Open Source Radeon driver) with 64-bit nightly. I'm using this flash-plugin: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/flashplayer_square_p2_64bit_linux_092710.tar.gz I also see 2 mentions of: "###!!! [Parent][RPCChannel] Error: Channel error: cannot send/recv" When I close the tab. This is the last one that worked: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2010/11/2010-11-10-03-mozilla-central/firefox-4.0b8pre.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start from commandline 2. go to a vimeo-page video-detail-page 3. start video 4. open new tab / look at that tab 5. look at tab with video running 6. part where video should be shown, just shows the last 'image' probably from before switching between tabs 7. switch to other tab again 8. still the same image as before, did not update again 9. when tab is closed, error from above is show in console I checked all the latest nightly builds, they are all broken, starting with the first one after that one mentioned above. I tested with a fresh firefox profile each time, just to be sure.

Confirming the regression range 2010-11-10-03 -- 2010-11-11-03 http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=df1d1ff6b489&tochange=0f17e5f1eb01 It seems to only affect windowless plugins. Bug 596451 maybe?

I believe the patch from bug 611593, which I just pushed, will fix this bug as well, but we should retest when builds come out.

I also see this issue on the Windows 7 platform as recent as the 11/15 Nightly. I use the 32-Bit Minefield. I will have to test the 11/16 Nightly and report back.
I don't have problems with the video not running - Flash CRASHES when switching between tabs. I am running with the default Minefield settings.

Works fine in 2010-11-16-03, on Linux64. James, can you confirm on Windows?
Depends on: 611593

All better now. And I don't know how new it is, but flash seems to survive tearing of tabs now. =) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101116 Firefox/4.0b8pre
