Details

I run Mozilla on Linux Mandrake 7.2... I get a couple of debug messages in the console but the app never comes up. Netscape 6 has the same problem.
Richard Ekle, could you try downloading one of the recent nightly builds and see if it still won't start for you? You can read which builds are good, and download that one, at: http://www.mozillazine.org/build_comments/
I tried the 11/30/2000 nightly build on Windows and it works fine (I'm entering this bug from Mozilla on Windows). The 11/30/2000 build doesn't work on Linux though... I wonder if maybe it's some kind of conflict with the libraries in Mandrake 7.2... It worked a while back when I had Mandrake 7.1... It always worked before. This is a recent occurance. I'll try doing a fresh install of Mandrake 7.2 and see if that helps... If you like I can send the contents of the console window that it displayed before it froze.
Since Don has left, Vishy is taking his bugs in bulk, pending reassignment. thanks, Vishy

nav triage team: Sounds like a library conflict, but won't hold beta1 for it in hopes that it will get fixed somehow. ;-) Marking nsbeta1-

richard, is this still an issue?
OS: Windows NT → Linux
This bug only happens if you install it as the root user and try to run it as a non-root user. If you install it to a non-root user's home directory and run it, it works fine. I think this may be a duplicate of another bug, since I seem to recall seeing reference to this bug before. We should probably mark this as a duplicate of that bug. (P.S. Mozilla 0.81 kept crashing on Windows NT 4.0 when I tried to enter this response and it asked me to log into Bugzilla. I had to go to IE (ugh) to enter this.)
run regxpcom and regchrome as root. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 41057 ***
