This is Bas's fix. Bas, you might want to regenerate the patch with genshaders to minimize the bytecode churn.

I know this is closed, but should this have been a blocker? I'm *watching* for people working on non-blockers, and this showed up on my radar. If it should be blocking, please make the call. If not, we need to stay focused on blockers!!!

The reason this wasn't labeled a blocker was because when Roc found it he asked me and I knew right away what to do so we created the bug with the patch right away. I then asked joe for approval the patch rather than specifically asking him to make this a blocker and land it then, my mistake. But yes, this would've certainly been a significant bug.
