This should be removable. The Addon Bar was designed to act like any other toolbar, so the Navigation Bar and the Tab Bar, neither of which feature a close button. For users that use the Addon Bar all the time, the close button is more of a hindrance than a help and as such should be removable. Reproducible: Always

WONTFIX per bug 616014 comment 27. Note that you can hide the close button with userChrome.css.

Hacking around stupid stuff like the close button is beyond the realm of most end-users and will only prove to be a major annoyance once 4 comes out of folks wanting it GONE! Are you planning on adding 'close-buttons' to all the other toolbars as well? You talk about 'consistency' in adding the close button and yet.. no toolbar has ever had a 'close-button'
