Sorry, this is one of those narrative bugs we all hate, but there are a ton of problems here.
Deleted FxHome from my phone.
* Downloaded latest FxHome and Minefield nightly.
* Launched FxHome.
* Tapped "I Have A Sync Account"
* Got the Cannot Connect to Sync error
* Hit try again, worked this time.
* Pondered what was meant by Sync options, eventually figured out that meant
Preferences->Sync
* Got frustrated that 'Add a device' was not present in the Manage Account
dropdown, eventually found it hiding in the corner.
* Starting to enter the passcode threw a master password prompt.
* Entered the Passcode in Minefield
* Got "Please Try Again" in Minefield
* Started re-entering the code, and got "Cannot Setup Sync" on the phone.
* Hit Try Again on the phone, which produced a new code
* Entered said new code in Minefield
* Got a "You must upgrade sync on your desktop" error on the phone.
* Realized this meant that the new nightly had never synced, likely because it
was blocked by master password.
* Did a Sync Now on Minefield (and observed that indeed the Tools menu stays
blue while sync is running)
* Watched about:sync-log to make sure sync completed normally.
* Hit refresh on the phone, and watched the download chug along, taking the
tens of seconds expected for an initial download of a dozen tabs, a hundred
or so bookmarks, and 2000 history records.
End result on the phone:
Tabs: 0
Bookmarks: 0
History: 0
Seemed to work OK when I signed out and back in, after a few retries in the PAKE dance.

Zander, what type of device are you on? And what OS version?
Is it possible to connect it to Xcode and grab it's Console Log?
(I just committed a change that will likely fix the 'Cannot Connect to Sync' error during JPAKE. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=618375)

iPhone4, 4.2.1

...Maybe, I just deleted the app before installing:

Improvements in JPAKE reliability, and releasing 1.1 and 4.0b8 seem to have fixed these issue. On to new bugs!
