Details

Using the trackpad on a mac, with inertial scolling on (the default on osx now) is really awful if smooth scrolling is on. The smooth scrolling pref is off by default, but there are likely some users who enabled it long ago, and will only now experience the problem, because of the osx addition of inertial scrolling. Solutions vary--possibly ignore the smooth scrolling pref in this situation (pixel scrolling is smooth anyway).
