Indeed this is presumably the same bug, which I still haven't been able to catch in a debug build, once we do, it will probably be trivial to debug.

Seems fixed by fixing Bug 612103.

One crash happened after the fixing of bug 612103. Is the additional patch (Only do a warning in the case of failure) going to fix that?

Nope, this is also in ThebesLayer, probably a completely different problem.
