I sometimes start seeing weird graphics in my nightly firefox: http://imgur.com/eHkjs it seems to be related to memory: http://i.imgur.com/HbqRo.png how can i debug this or help in tracking down Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0b9pre) Gecko/20110106 Firefox/4.0b9pre from about:support Graphics Adapter Description NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE Vendor ID 10de Device ID 01d1 Adapter RAM Unknown Adapter Drivers nv4_disp Driver Version 6.14.12.6099 Driver Date 10-16-2010 Direct2D Enabled false DirectWrite Enabled false WebGL Renderer NVIDIA Corporation -- GeForce 7300 LE/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW! -- 2.1.2 GPU Accelerated Windows 1/1 Direct3D 9
reloading about:memory just shows that win32/privatebytes, win32/workingset keeps increasing
Summary: weird graphics → [D3D9] weird graphics
Version: unspecified → Trunk
>how can i debug this or help in tracking down Testing without addons is one thing and another would be to disable the hardware acceleration in tools/options/advanced/general. A third thing would be to disable TM/JM in about:config or you could do all 3 things together with starting Firefox in the Firefox safemode.
I find this happens frequently when I alt-tab out of a Direct3D application (using 4.0RC1 under WinXPSP3 with nVidia 7600GT). Is it the same for you?
This is worrysome. This could be a bug in the D3D9 backend, but I'd expect more people to be seeing it, I wonder if this is a driver/device combination issue, in that case we could blacklist. (or as far as I can see it -could- still be non-D3D9 related, but it sounds unlikely)
@ annihilannic: can you please share your GPU information? Go to about:support, copy, paste here the Graphics section.
...and meanwhile, we already see that the two reports here are both on Geforce 7 series GPUs.
Summary: [D3D9] weird graphics → [D3D9] weird graphics with GeForce 7 series GPUs
Apologies, I had forgotten I had upgraded to an 8600GTS: Graphics Adapter Description: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS Vendor ID: 10de Device ID: 0400 Adapter RAM: Unknown Adapter Drivers: nv4_disp Driver Version: 6.14.12.6099 Driver Date: 10-16-2010 Direct2D Enabled: false DirectWrite Enabled: false (0.0.0.0, font cache n/a) WebGL Renderer: Google Inc. -- ANGLE -- OpenGL ES 2.0 (ANGLE 0.0.0.541) GPU Accelerated Windows: 1/1 Direct3D 9 Video memory is 256MB. Is there a Firefox build number somewhere? All I can find is: Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
I'm marking this bug as WONTFIX per bug #1318558 and bug #1343941.
