Attachments sent by Apple mail clients cannot be deleted or detached. It looks like the deletion process proceeds, but finally, the email has the same huge size as before. 

No doubt that this has been reported before, but didn't find it. The bug was already in version 2.0.0.24, and persists in v.3.1.7.

How many years do we have to wait for a solution?

Thank you Ludovic for requesting a sample. And sorry that I was somewhat angry, because the prb happens to me here + there.

I asked iMac users to send me sample emails, but njet: TB behaves fine. Therefore I have to send one of my saved (huge) emails ... too big ... please download it from the following link (5 MB). Thank you.

So none of those attachment can be detached right ?

I have the same problem on my Thunderbird.  Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.17) Gecko/20110414 Lightning/1.0b2 Thunderbird/3.1.10

Some of the source from a message with the problem.  It is 100% apple mail that causes me problems.
