On Mac, I'm not sure whether the Firefox button is needed by users. However, I think that addon developers may need it for debugging their UI in it if they have neither Windows nor Linux environment.

Some addons are accessible only from menu item which are inserted by themselves. However, if some developers of them have only Mac environment, they may not know the latest structure of Firefox button's menu and they cannot develop it easily. I think that this is a big problem.
Same thing as was reported over here.
