Firefox doesn't store history of visited pages, as implied, but instead opened pages.

I've had a different problem with Firefox today - I lost my session. Well - **** happens, but how do I get them back? Some of the pages, very important for my graduation work, I have googled out MONTHS ago. I go to the history, select "sort by last visited" and choose "today" and pages I'm looking for aren't there! How is this possible if I was just reading some of them 10 minutes ago? I look closer and I see the pattern - there are only pages I have opened today (that is ones which weren't open yesterday and became open today). How is it, that Firefox can't store page's content and reloads it from the Internet every time its started, but doesn't consider the page as being "visited today"?
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open any page
2. Close the Firefox for the night
3. Restore yesterday's session (don't browse yet)
4. Look up today's history.
Actual Results:
The page restored appears as visited yesterday
Expected Results:
The page appears as visited today

I'm sure this is a DUPE but I can't find the bug, the problem is that session history doesn't consider reopening the old page a visit and thus doesn't register it with history.
also firefox should write history if page is opened twice. now only last opening is saved.
BartekBl , probably you could see your pages' contents in firefox cache folder, sorting files in it by time.

no, all visits are saved, but most views are grouped by url ("by last visited" is not, fwiw)

Tried this, there is no problem like that.

Not all visits are saved. A normal refresh is counted as a visit as long as the page isn't in the last eight visited pages but loading from history is never counted as a visit, even if the page is refreshed in the process (eg no-cache). So you could quite easily load a tab from sessionstore daily for years and have no visits counted or have it absent from history altogether.
Chrome, Internet Explorer 11 and Opera 12 don't have this problem as they treat history like a normal visit.

Refreshes are a different story and it's unrelated.
