Safari sets the "Where from:" (URL) metadata field in Finder Get Info on downloaded files, and Firefox Download Manager should also do this.
This has security implications because being able to tell where a downloaded file came from helps the user make better decisions about security.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download a file from the internet (e.g. one of our installers) using Safari
2. Download same file using Firefox
3. Get info on both downloaded files
Actual Results:
Compare the Get Info windows of the two downloaded files, note that the one from the Safari downloaded file has a "Where from:" field which shows the URL from which the file was downloaded, and that the Firefox downloaded file does not.
Expected Results:
Get Info on the Firefox downloaded file also shows the URL from which it was retrieved in the "Where from:" field in the Get Info window on the file.
