Opening bug to track any changes needed in design as part of the upcoming merging of www.mozilla.com and www.mozilla.org.
Target Milestone: 1.5 → 1.6
As per chat with David, I'm gonna experiment a bit and show the result here. If, on the other hand, someone wants to have a special design for mozilla.org, please comment in this bug.
OS: Mac OS X → All
Hardware: x86 → All
Target Milestone: 1.6 → 2.0
Target Milestone: 2.0 → 2.1
One note: the two sites have different layouts. There is a liquid layout on mozilla.org and a fixed-width layout on mozilla.com and those will need to be merged with the design merge.
Target Milestone: 2.1 → 2.2
Target Milestone: 2.2 → 2.3
Target Milestone: 2.3 → Future
Can we have this style change done and implemented after the merge? We now have current mozilla.org kildare style working perfectly on mozilla.com codebase, so it's not a technical requirement.
Yes, the plan is to redesign mozilla.org after the URL change (it's part of the overall merge planning so I wouldn't say it would happen after the merge).

David,

Can you help me with next steps for testing this all out, the design isn't necessary for the URL redirects, but we need to QA this newly merged site, establish what to redirect and when, and assign new bugs, among them is this one to bring the sites into a single skinned design.

Thoughts?

CB, sure, happy to help. I'll be back in MV on Wed and Thurs if you want to talk in person.

I notice that bug 667580 and bug 667573, newly duped to this bug, are still access-restricted. Maybe their comments contain "sensitive information"? Or maybe it was just an oversight?

I believe it was just an oversight. Probably worthwhile going back and removing the access restriction.

Sensitive information. Please leave as is. This is the bug that can be followed for progress on this project.
I saw those bugs but no sensitive info found. Both have been marked as duplicate of this bug.

I was invited to "follow along here" (http://blog.chrissiebrodigan.com/2011/08/bringing-mozilla-product-sites-back-home-to-mozilla-org-hellz-yeah/ ) but it doesn't look like "here" is where it's happening.

Are there mock ups? proposals? patches? a wiki page? a staging site? Or is there just not any progress yet to follow?

Yep, that. The other aspects of the merge have been taking up most of the focus - once the initial URL step is behind us we'll dive into the design phase and start reporting on all the other things you asked about. So, you haven't missed anything yet!!
