Can we get some numbers on how people use the following bookmark features:
- tags
- microsummaries
- livemarks
- smart bookmarks (tag queries, saved searches, ...)
Note that Firefox creates 1 livemark and 3 smart bookmarks by default, so it'd be interesting to know how people use these features beyond those defaults, and whether people actually *delete* them because they don't find them useful.
Hi ~
I'm going through some of the various data analysis bugs in TP. Is this bug still of interest?

Yes, although we don't need microsummaries anymore since they've been dropped from the product.

Hamilton: do we have data on these questions?
Philipp/Shawn: if we don't have data currently to answer these questions, are you interested to schedule a study for it?

Please define "schedule"? We'd like to have data on this, yes!

If we don't have data from previous studies, we then have to implement a new study to fetch data from users.
To get a new study up running, we need to:
1. understand what data we need to collect to answer your questions
2. instrument FX to get these data (with or without a corresponding survey)
3. run the study on users' computer for a certain time, could be anytime between 1 minute to 1 month, depends on what data we want. (we normally run 3-5 days)
4. aggregate data and analyze.
So the new study from beginning to end may take anytime between 2-4 weeks, depending on what data you are interested.

For your request, are you only interested in the static data on bookmark usage, e.g. how many tags/livemarks/bookmark folders people have currently? If that's the case, it should be a fairly quick study and we may already have data on it.
Or are you interested to know user behaviors in a period of time, e.g. how people often create new smart marks? do they create a bunch at the same time or not? then we may want to collect data for a period of time.
If you are interested to know why they use smart marks or not, or if there are discoverability problems with current design, then we can schedule user tests/interviews for you.
It really depends on what you want to do and we can figure out what data can help you.

That would be a great start. On top of that it'd be great to know how often people open a livemark and query for tags.
