User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b11) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b11
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b11) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b11

I have around 40 tabs open and grouped in 5 tab groups. I have 5 pinned tabs two from gmail and the rest are javadocs. Some of the tabs have bing or google maps embedded in them. Am not sure why but the memory usage is simple too high. I am not able to exactly pinpoint the reason why this is occurring. Would be happy to provide more details if some one can tell me what I must be doing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open at least more than 40 tabs
2.Open websites like www.hrs.de or www.immobilienscout24.de which usually have maps embedded
3.I am not sure but having AdBlockPlus(ABP) running might also contribute to the memory usage I think.
Actual Results:
Too much of memory usage, up to 1.27gb and continuous cpu usage of of 12 to 40%.

Expected Results:
Reasonable memory usage.
Hardware: x86 → x86_64
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Beta 12 will be improved a lot (does more garbage collection), but a good workaround in beta 11 is to disable AdBlock Plus if you have it.

hi, thanks for the update, updated to the Beta12 version of firefox 4 and still have the problem. Used the instructions found under
http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla/source/tools/footprint/leak-gauge.html
to see if I can find any memory leaks. from the logs i believe there are two cases of memory leaks.

1. Searching in google with ABP enabled causes a leak. I have attached the logs.

2. also found these two leaks in the logs that i am not sure from where it comes from and what causes it.
Leaked content nodes associated with node info manager at address 11a6c6b20.
 ... with document URI "chrome://global/content/tabprompts.xml".
 ... with document URI "jar:file:///Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/omni.jar!/chrome/toolkit/content/global/tabprompts.xml".
Leaked content nodes associated with node info manager at address 12929b4b0.
 ... with document URI "jar:file:///Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/omni.jar!/chrome/toolkit/content/global/bindings/tree.xml".
 ... with document URI "chrome://global/content/bindings/tree.xml".

I will try to figure that one out.
I see the same thing in beta 12 in OS X. Firefox 4 always gets up to over 1.8GB!
I installed the leak alert add-on, and windows pop up all over the place. I have a lot fewer than 40 tabs open--more like 15.
I have 16GB of memory in my system, but Firefox slows down badly when its memory usage is this high, and I must close it.
I am running the memory log thing.
are you seeing this in version 10 started in safe mode?

Not seen it lately, but I mainly use Chrome now...
