The Chaotic particles demo makes the browser unresponsive. It is hard to reproduce using Windbg.

Worksforme on Mac. Is this windows only? If so, does disabling hardware accel help?
Fine for me on FF4 with HW accel disabled. Can't try with accel on until I get home (this optimus machine is all blacklisted and stuff)
And on Mac, 90+% of the time is under Canvas fillRect. But that's covered by bug 601176 and the like. The unresponsive thing is bad, though. I wonder whether we can address that...

> Fine for me on FF4 with HW accel disabled. Me too. So it is caused by HW acceleration.
Seems likely to be the same underlying issue as bug 636752.
Depends on: 636752
Severity: normal → critical
Keywords: hang, reproducible

Following the reporter's steps I am able to confirm that the issues doesn't happen anymore on Windows 10 on any of the current versions of Firefox Nightly 87.0a1 (2021-02-23), beta 86.0 and release 85.0.2. No crashes occur under the given test case - site used for repro : https://29a.ch/sandbox/2010/particle/.
