I believe there should be a keyboard shortcut and/or a toolbar button that can be added through right-click "Customize..." to Restore Session for those people who don't use TabCandy and/or don't have "about:home" set as the default page. It is cumbersome to remember to go to the Minefield / Firefox menu every time to restore the session, if necessary.

Still no comments after two months.....

How hard can this be to add? The relevant code is already there within the "Restore Session" button on "about:home". All that needs to be done is copy the code to a button that can added through the "Customize Toolbar" dialog. It would probably only take about 5 to 10 minutes of work, plus the time it takes to compile the daily builds.
There is nothing stopping an addon from doing this, but I don't think we want to offer & maintain this functionality out of the box. I'm going to WONTFIX. Alex, if you disagree, feel free to reopen (but I'm guessing you'll agree with me here).

Who's Alex? I am the one who originally reported this enhancement.

It has been SO long since a response on this bug (EIGHT months), that this bug has become obsolete anyway, with the new memory management features and never-lose-user-data features being implemented for Firefox 10 and beyond. So, I won't object to this one being closed. I just wish someone would have responded / commented on this seven or eight months ago when I originally reported it.
Chris, Alex is one of our UX experts -- he was cc'd on this bug. Sorry it took so long to get to this point. I know it is less than ideal.

Marking VERIFIED as I agree with comment 2.

Sorry about that, the open bug tracker results in there being more bugs than is sometimes humanly possible for us to triage. We're hoping to address the core issue (access to session restore) with an app tab that Firefox provides called the home tab. This was part of the original design with some of the session restore changes in 4, but didn't make the cut as we accelerated to ship at the same time as IE9.
