Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
I observed this behavior starting with Firefox 4. Firefox 3.6 was ok.
Sometimes, it happens, that a page does not load. The load indicator shows, that loading didn't even start. After cancelling the load and reloading, everything works fine. Seems to be a timing issue.
Example: Logging in to FreeMail at web.de from my work PC (intranet), which still runs under Win XP. But it also happened at other sites under different conditions. For instance at my home PC under Win Vista.
Unfortunately, the problem does not always occur.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Type name and password to log in at any site
2. Press login button
3. Nothing happens. Page does not load.
4. Cancel load.
5. Page reload -> ok
Actual Results:
New page after reload.
Expected Results:
New page immediately.

Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
How about with a new, empty profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile
Version: unspecified → 4.0 Branch
Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode?
Yes.
How about with a new, empty profile?
I found, that there were two installations of Firefox:
Firefox 3.6 at D:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox, where I originally installed it
Firefox 4.0 at C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
I deinstalled both versions and removed the relicts in program files and installed Firefox 4.0 again. Then I imported my old bookmarks.
The error occurred again (normal and safe mode).
This was all at my work PC (where the slow intranet could have an effect). I have to watch my PC at home, how it behaves.
Could be problem of the web.de site in combination with the intranet at work here.
I'll add more information, if I find a better way to reproduce the problem or if I definitely know, that it is not a Firefox problem.
New finding:
After logging in at web.de freemail, a toolbar should be displayed on top of the page, which is mainly created with Javascript.
With activated Firebug, when I have the error and nothing is visible, moving over the area of the toolbar with the mouse causes the not loaded page to load and be displayed.
The same without Firebug does not work. The page does not load. Only white screen.
I assume, this is a timing problem with HTML and Javascript.

Reporter -> Are you still experiencing this issue with the latest version of Firefox 6? Does the issue occur with the latest nightly? http://nightly.mozilla.org/
I am not experiencing the problem any more.
Finally, I was not sure, if it were changes in Firefox or in the programming of the website.
To my opinion, this case can be closed.
