User-Agent:       Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0

Whenever there is a drop-down select box, cannot select items via mouse, only way is via up/down cursor keys. Problem exists on every web page visited.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Sample web page demo's problem: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/

2. Simple html file also demos problem:

<html>
  <body>
    <form>
      <select>
        <option value="Apples">Apples</option>
        <option value="Oranges">Oranges</option>
      </select>
    </form>

  </body>
</html>

Actual Results:
1. Other language drop-down box in lower right will not allow selecting via mouse, only up/down cursor keys.

2. Will not allow selecting via mouse, only up/down cursor keys.

Expected Results:
Should be able to mouse over drop-down items and click to select

Tried both with and without "User hardware accelerator"

Problem only occurs with Firefox 4. No problem with Firefox 3, IE8, Safari 5, or Opera 11.

Update:

OK it appears it cannot always be reproduced. Additional facts re problem:

(1) It appears to happen after Firefox 4 has been running for a while.

(2) Other odd mouse things appear to also crop up after Firefox 4 has been running for a while -- for example, cannot click on minimize/maximize/close in the upper right corner of Firefox 4 window unless alt-tab away to another window and then alt-tab back to Firefox 4

(3) After the mouse problems start, Firefox 4 becomes very slow and eventually unresponsive.

(4) Re-booting seems to bring everything back to normal.
Is your Issue reproducible without Extensions in Safe-Mode and/or using a new Profile?

Many thanks for reply.

I am trying to keep track of what I'm doing to see if I can create a reproduceable sequence of steps that lead to the problem.

I will also try starting in safe mode next time problem occurs to see what happens there.

Will post again as soon as I have something.

Update -- I guess we can close this. Problem only occurred once after the initial ff4 install. Once computer was re-booted problem went away and has of yet never re-appeared.

Thanks,
Robert
