User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 When I'm connected to my Desktop computer trough Real VNC and I start Firefox 4, I can't see it from my Real VNC viewer, all I can see is the top bar. If I drag that bar the browser is displayed, but when I stop dragging it, I cant seen it again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Connect to my Desktop PC with Real VNC 2. Open Firefox 4 3. Cant see browser, I see desktop and the top bar of FF 4 4. Drag FF 4 top bar 5. Try to do something in browser Actual Results: The browser is lunched and works fine in host computer (VNC server), but you cannot see it from guest computer (vnc guest) Expected Results: Same result in both computers
This is a VNC limitation, it seems that it doesn't support d2d windows. Disable the hardware acceleration in firefox (tools/options/advanced/general and a ff restart) if you want a workaround for the VNC limitation. Please confirm that this fixes the problem.
Version: unspecified → 4.0 Branch
This is also a problem for TightVNC and you must disable the Firefox "use hardware acceleration" or the TightVNC "Enable direct access to the display driver's mirror screen" to get Firefox's window to update on the remote system. Disabling the "direct access" option in TightVNC may impact other programs by causing them to have screen update problems, for example Mailwasher v 1.1.2 http://forum.firetrust.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=9907

Resolution: --- → FIXED
it can't be fixed without a source code change for Firefox. marking wontfix, the issue itself can't be fixed on our side but there is a workaround with disabling the HWA
Resolution: FIXED → WONTFIX
This also happens in FF8. Both, firefox hardware acceleration and vnc mirror driver, are performance related options. Since they are in conflict, one of two (either firefox or vnc server - or even both) should be fixed, in order to be compatible with each other.
