There's no point in hiding a maximized window since it already takes up the entire desktop.

It still flickers, set "Browser.fullscreen.animateUp" to "0" then compare with Fx4.0, when you hit F11 Fx4.0 instantly and smoothly goes fullscreen, but in "Firefox/4.2a1pre Gecko/201104012" you will see the background app flickers a bit.
The 4.2a1pre Im using is under latest-mozilla-beta-l10n, does it include this fix? latest-trunk only has English vision, there is no latest-trunk-l10n.
Updated to 4.2a1pre 201104013, problem still remains, in order to see it more clearly, play a video on the background (just beneath Fx), then press F11, you will see how it flickers.
Just updated to Nightly 6.0a1(other language visions are just available), problem solved. great fix, thanks.
