I have the same problem with my bank site as in http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2049209 . The applet is working, but it dies after ~15 seconds even if I do nothing. I tried to change these params, but no effect:
dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled
dom.ipc.plugins.processLaunchTimeoutSecs
dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs
