Details

Summary: Mozilla should download messages from a POP server, even if they are marked RO in the mail spool, as long as Mozilla has not seen the message. I believe Eudora behaves this way; in any case, it makes it impossible to use one server from two clients using POP. To reproduce: - Send yourself an email - Telnet into your account - Look at the message using mail, pine, or elm - Hit "Get New Msg" Actual result: New message is not downloaded. Expected result: The new message is downloaded and marked unread Of course, the problem is that it's hard to tell if a message in the mail spool is new but marked RO by another client, or just left on the server but already deleted locally. Mozilla could keep track of deleted messages and remove them from the bookkeeping list once they are deleted from the mailspool. Build 2001010517 Linux

Oh, I figured out why this was happening and it's not Mozilla's fault. (The messages were removed from the mail spool each time I started elm.) Sorry, my bad.
