I wanted to change my bugzilla account email address to my gmail address. I once had a bugzilla account at that gmail address, I would delete this account but that's not an option so I changed the address to something else. Then I tried to change my real bugzilla account to point at my gmail address, but it says: "There is already an account with the login name joseph.walker@gmail.com" However when I tried to access that account (via reset password): "There is no user named 'joseph.walker@gmail.com'. Either you mis-typed the name or that user has not yet registered for a Bugzilla account" This seems to be what is recommended according to https://wiki.mozilla.org/BMO/Requesting_Changes#Usernames_and_Passwords So then I tried to change my email address to joseph.walker+bugzilla@gmail.com (which still reaches me). However I discover that all my permissions have been lost. This account originally had the address jwalker@mozilla.com. I would like to have joseph.walker@gmail.com as my email address and the set of permissions that I had before I tried to change my email address.

You have to wait 3 days after changing an email address on an account before the address can be reused again. The cancel token on the email address change has to expire before you can reuse it.
There are 2 parts to this - one seems like it's a bugzilla bug, where email addresses get only partially changed. The other where I've lost permissions, and as a consequence of the first problem, am unable to set my email address to joseph.walker@gmail.com
The permissions loss is because there are permissions that are automatically granted because you had a mozilla.com email address. When your address changes away from mozilla.com, those privs go away with it. There's a field for bugzilla email address in phonebook (https://ldap.mozilla.org/phonebook/#search/jwalker). Go add your address there and we can fix up the privs.
Please reopen this bug if there is still an issue.
