Bug 655597 is about RHEL having too old libstdc++ to run Firefox 4.0. This bug is to block updates for those users. A Centos 5.0 (equivalent to RHEL5.0) box makes a request like this: https://aus2.mozilla.org/update/3/Firefox/3.6.17/20110420140830/Linux_x86-gcc3/en-US/release/Linux%202.6.18-53.1.19.el5%20(GTK%202.10.4)/default/default/update.xml?force=1 ie the kernel is blah-blah.el5, which I think we can block on. FWIW the latest RHEL5.6 has kernel-2.6.18-238.9.1.el5, so the match is still valid.

(In reply to comment #2) > Does CentOS identify the same? [cltbld@linux-ix-slave03 ~]$ uname -r 2.6.18-8.el5PAE [cltbld@linux-ix-slave03 ~]$ cat /etc/issue CentOS release 5 (Final) Kernel \r on an \m This is from centos 5.0. Aiui, all RHEL derivatives use the elN version string portion.

Yup, since they're all "Enterprise Linux" :)

Welcome back Ben, here's one of the fun reviews you will have missed. ;-) Comment #0 has the background on what we want to block here and why. It seems likely there will be other users with the same problem and we will try to deal with them as we get reports. I've tried to make the match more specific but AUS doesn't support wildcards (so Linux*.el5 is out), and there are many kernel versions that would appear where that * is. This shouldn't have an adverse affect on Windows or Mac, and has been tested on aus2-staging.
