this will make it possible to display to a user the runs s/he is assigned to and expected to work on.

I believe this is actually a duplicate of https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=659073 which was filed later, but describes the problem in more general terms. So I'll close this one. A user could have assignments of individual test cases within a test run without being a member of that test run's team. But the only meaningful definition of "assigned a test run" in platform terms is being in that test run's team; so filtering by team member should cover this need.
