I'm running both browsers on the same machine right now, Syncing FF4 fails consistently, Syncing Aurora works fine.   Firefox Home also syncs ok.

The error bar in the FF4 instance reports "Unknown error".

(Please don't use pastebin for logs as it's volatile. Attachments are preferred.)

You're hitting bug 638301 which was fixed in Firefox 5 (and hence in all channels apart from the release channel.) I suggest upgrading to at least Firefox 5 beta.

Thanks!   That was quick!  Actually, I marked the pastebin as permanent, but that's probably a bad idea too.

Hmmm... I've got 3.6.17, 4.0.1, Aurora, and Nightly running on this machine.

...but I suppose there's room for "one more tiny wafer..."  err, profile.

Just downloaded FF5beta.  I'm getting sync errors here too.  Still "Unknown" error.

Aurora (now 6.0a2 2011-05-27) syncs fine.

Hold up; before you start reopening bugs, how 'bout we take a look at the log, see if it's the same issue or not?

Do you have a log from Fx5?

Thanks, :richard. Looks like you're getting unsolicited HMAC mismatches now. That's pretty weird. It *seems* like it happened some time around the Firefox 4 -> 5 upgrade. This may be the reason (doubtful since Sync almost didn't change at all) or it maybe coincidental.

Closing old HMAC bugs after remediation. Richard, please reopen if you've had this reoccur after some time after successfully using Firefox 7 or later on all of your devices.
