Details
Emails generated by drumbeat.org when a user receives a direct message or obtains a follower currently contain no instructions for changing preferences to not receive email notifications. Each email should contain:
1) An explanation of why the user is receiving a direct message (i.e. You follow this project).
2) A link to their user preferences where they can opt-out of receiving email notifications of direct messages or follows.

As a project operator, while I certainly don't want to lose any of the people following, I would also like to suggest a single click "unsubscribe" link along with the other information you suggest. A combination of "unsubscribe me from further messages from this project" with the link to user preferences where it is possible to unsubscribe from messages more globally would be ideal. The last thing I want is someone who decided to follow my project starting to feel inconvenienced by any messages to the project. It doesn't take much to move from being thought of as an "interesting effort" to "that group that keeps spamming me".
