Open a mail folder, double click on an email in the message pane. A new window opens, containing only that email. Expected: window title contains something useful, like <Subject> - <Sender> - Mozilla Actual: window title is just "Mail" But it would be good if the title would *not* be the same as in the message pane window, to make it possible to distinguish the two windows in the task list. Build 2001011820 on NT4. This is related to bug 29009, although not the same.
"<Subject> - <Product Name>" should be displayed in the Standalone window.

Build 2001-04-03-04: NT4 Build 2001-04-03-05: Linux RH 6.2 Build 2001-04-03-09: Mac 9.04 I would like to verify this because it matches the spec: "<Subject> - <Folder> - for <Email Address> - Netscape (Mozilla)" jglick: Earlier in this bug you stated a different format: "<Subject> - <Product Name>". Please clarify which is the correct format.
In the Standalone window (double click a message to open it), 4.x used <Subject> - <application name> as the title. I was assuming we'd be doing the same. <Subject> - <Folder> - for <Email Address> - Netscape/Mozilla is what we are using in the 3 Pane Mail window with a message currently selected and displayed in the message pane. I don't have a problem using the same format for the Standalone if that is what people want. The writer of the bug requested that the titles be different.
The "<Subject> - <Product Name>" format is fine with me. A better way to distinguish between the 3pane and Stand Alone window when they are minimized in the Windows Taskbar is to have different icons, which is already a bug. Using the "<Subject> - <Product Name>" format I don't think will help with this issue because the minimized icon only has room to display the first part of the window title which is the Subject in both cases. Reopening to get the Stand Alone window to display the title in "<Subject> - <Product Name>" format.

Using different icons will not work for Mac OS X, since the icons are not displayed in the dock or on the "Window" menu. Also, in the Window menu the names are truncated in the middle, so the titles must be different at the start or at the end. I think a <mailboxname> at the start for 3-pane view would suffice, or preface the stand-alone window with "Message - ".
