I was running Firefox for a while with one tab opened in which I had the Web console engaged. I opened a new tab, i typed about:memory in the url bar and hit enter. Firefox crashed instantly after hitting the enter button.

Happened once to me also - no clear steps to reproduce. Unfortunately no crash report was created.

No, the toolkit.telemetry.enabled is set to false and there's no ping.telemetry Addon active.

The crash in comment 0 is a duplicate of bug 654573.  The crashes in comment and comment 6 are slightly different;  I suspect they have the same root cause, but I'll keep this bug open separately just in case.

George Carstoiu: did you visit about:memory to cause this crash?  Or do you have the Test Pilot add-on installed?

I'm requesting tracking-firefox6 on this because, like bug 654573, it is causing telemetry to crash randomly -- though it's not telemetry's fault, telemetry just calls into the storage memory reporter which is where the bug is.

I'm highly confident now that this is a dup of bug 654573 (or one of its spin-offs:  bug 662985, bug 662986, bug 662989) -- it has the same root cause despite the slightly different crash signature.
