User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1 After FF crashes, if FF is set to restore the previous session on start or an attempt is made to restore the previous session, the restore fails with a pop-up message: "The URL is invalid and cannot be loaded." The URL in the locaation bar is "about:sessionrestore". My sessionstore.js appears to my untrained eye to be uncorrupted. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open some tabs. 2. "killall firefox" 3. Restart Firefox. Actual Results: See attached screenshot. Expected Results: Session is restored with all applicable open windows and tabs.
Thanks for filing this bug. Can you confirm if this happens with a new profile and the latest Firefox Nightly? ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-central/ http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_manager
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:7.0a1) Gecko/20110621 Firefox/7.0a1 Reporter, were you able to try what Anthony suggested in comment 2? You can also try our latest official Firefox 5 release - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/
Haven't tried the latest nightlies yet, but I did play with profiles a bit. If I create a new profile and crash it, recovery works. If I open the old profile and crash it, neither profile can recover after that. I also tried on another machine, and I don't seem to have any problems with that. I will try nightlies and/or Fx 5 next chance I get.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:8.0a1) Gecko/20110724 Firefox/8.0a1 If you say that you cannot reproduce it on a clean profile or on another machine, it must be an addon or a pref. Please try on the latest trunk, but I am pretty sure that I won't reproduce on a clean profile: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/
(precise wording in summary)
Summary: After crash, session restore fails with "URL is invalid" → After crash, session restore fails with "The URL is not valid and cannot be restored"
