I believe that the preferred way to do localization is to do all of the localization via AMO after you've uploaded your add-on to the site.

But yeah, a note about that would be nice in the docs.

It would be nice to know what kind of localization you mean. If it's localization for the descriptions and strings that appear in the Addons Manager, then the best you can do is localize everything on addons.mozilla.org.

If what you're asking is localization of strings inside your addon, then you are not so lucky. l10n is coming but not as a top priority right now.

Added a FAQ on localization, though I'm not sure what else there is to say other than that it isn't supported.
