No apparent problem with function. Why does menu bar read about:home?   Is this to do with about:blank virus?

Could you please clarify what do you mean? both about:blank and about:home are valid pages in Firefox, I'm not sure what virus or menu bar are your talking about.

Reporter, I don't understand what is suppose to be the issue? Are there any steps to reproduce? Could you provide a screenshot of the issue? Thanks.

And what would be the issue? This looks like the normal about:home page with a restore session button

Now I see what you mean.
In Internet Explorer there is a spyware with the fancy About:Blank name.
This spyware does not affet Firefox, our about: pages are safe and expected.
