As far as I know, mozilla.com and mozilla.org URLs should automatically to be shortened to mzl.la links when using bit.ly. However, it doesn't work correctly.

Examples from my own bit.ly account:

mzl.la shorten URLs have worked for www.mozilla.com but don't work for www.mozilla.org and most of the Mozilla properties. The enabled domain list should be updated. Who can access the Bitly Enterprise dashboard?

is it really work like this? i domt think so, if someone have mzl.la bit.ly credential and thrn they create a mzl.la link url, next time if a normal user try to create a shortlink with bit.ly, he will get that mzl.la url, otherwise i dont think it happen autometically :)

In my understanding, Mozilla has used the Bitly Enterprise service since 2010 (http://techcrunch.com/2010/06/03/bitly-pro-data/), and the enabled hosts can be set on the Enterprise dashboard. developer.mozilla.org is on the list, so any URL on that site can be automatically shortened as mzl.la. www.mozilla.com is also on the list but www.mozilla.org isn't.

I have the access of bit.ly account, but i am afraiding to do it. ccing william and carmen for this issue!

Yes, we do have Bitly Enterprise service. It doesn't appear I can add domains through the account interface, so I have reached out to their support team to get the domains in comment 0 added.

The Bitly team updated our account, and all mozilla.org URLs and those with mozilla.org subdomains should now shorten automatically to mzl.la URLs. Please reopen if this doesn't work for a URL you want to shorten.

Great! I've confirmed that mzl.la now works for *.mozilla.org :)

You may want to add major non *.mozilla.org sites to the domain list, including webfwd.org, mozillalabs.com, webmaker.org, which are accessible via the TabZilla global navigation, but the mozilla.org subdomains will meet most of the contributors' needs.

Thanks for the suggestion Kohei. All three of these domains are now on the domain list on bitly and will automatically shorten URLs to mzl.la.
