User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:5.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0 Build ID: 20110615151330 Steps to reproduce: Sometimes when I close Firefox, I get the following pop-up dialog. Actual results: +-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |Acrobat plug-in. | |[Exclamation point] | |The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a |Web Browser. |Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again. | | OK +-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Expected results: The Acrobat plug-in is disabled, nothing should happen.
>he Acrobat plug-in is disabled How do you disabled the plugin ?
And what version(s) of reader do you have installed?

Not sure if this is exactly the same bug: On current Aurora 17.0a2 2012-08-28 (Win7 x64), I cannot disable the Acrobat plugin. Addons -> Plugins says "Adobe Acrobat 10.1.4.38 (disabled)", however https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ lists the plugin as enabled, about:plugins lists the plugin, and PDF files get displayed using Acrobat. Other disabled plugins are not listed. I would prefer to use the internal pdfjs viewer, but acrobat always wins. Also, this might turn into a major security issue if a vulnerable acrobat version gets disabled by the user, and leaves the user in a false sense of security. Command line of plugin container: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugin-container.exe" --channel=2176.1e38c200.970767415 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\browser\nppdf32.dll" E7CF176E110C211B -greomni "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\omni.ja" 2176 "\\.\pipe\gecko-crash-server-pipe.2176" plugin The only other copy of nppdf* resides in the Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AIR folder.
I can confirm that this bug exists, and that it affects the release version of Firefox 17.0 on Windows 7 x64, with Adobe Acrobat 10.1.4 installed. The Adobe Acrobat plugin is disabled in Addons -> Plugins, but PDF files are displayed using the Acrobat plugin, and both about:plugins and https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ show the plugin as enabled.
Are you sure that the pdf plugin is used to display the PDFs in the browser window and not that the Acrobat Reader is launched as helper application ?
When the addon manager says Acrobat is disabled, what does about:plugins say? It's possible there are two Acrobat plugins and the addon manager is disabling one of them but the other one is still active.
