Build id : Mozilla/5.0 (Android;Linux armv7l;rv:8.0a1)Gecko/20110712
Firefox/8.0a1 Fennec/8.0a1
Device: Motorola Droid 2
OS: Android 2.2
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Fennec App
2. Switch device orientation to landscape
3. Browse to bugzilla.mozilla.org
4. Tap on Search > Advantage Search
5. Tap on combo box next to Whiteboard entry
6. Tap on any option from the list
7. Tap on text field next to Whiteboard combo box
8. Type at least 30 characters
Expected result:
After step 8, the page should pan to the right as you type into the text field until it is fully visible. The page should not pan further.
Actual result:
The page doesn't pan at all, even if the cursor reaches and goes by the visible side of the text field.
Notes:
It would be easier to reproduce this issue if a device with HWKB will be used.
After step 7, text field should be focused and centered.

We used to have a fix for this, but backed it out (I think)
Vivien - any thoughts on how to proceed with this one?

I could not reproduce this on latest nightly on either my workstation or on the Galaxy S. Cristian, can you still reproduce it?

If I tap on the input filed, it will be centered and focused. But if I pan the page to the left a little bit, just to hide at least half of the input field, and I start typing, the issue is still reproducing.
IMO, the page should pan to right at least when the cursor almost reaches the right edge of the screen (perhaps 2-3px should be enough).

Strangely, this works when running Fennec on workstation but not on device. Once thing I noticed is that it works when you use backspace but not when you type text in the input element.

This is probably related to bug 630576 - using Android IME, key events are generated for the backspace and return keys, but not for other keys.
Depends on: 630576
