What's the status on having even a rough copy for this?

Here's the details on the copy needed:
Other than the usual First Run Content (Tara - should I check with Mayumi to see what other first run content is required - also is the a reference for what's currently on first run?), we'll need longer descriptions of what the BYOB add-ons can do for you:
A special build of Firefox with 4 Firefox add-ons pre-installed to help students be lean, mean learning machines
Evernote: Key features - Makes it easy to take clips of text, links, images you see online. A Handy tool for collecting, sorting and storing information.
F1: Key features - Share links from within the browser, from any webpage, using the same services you already know and love
Stumble Upon: Key features - Helps you discover great websites that match your interests.
Zotero - Zotero helps you collect, manage, and cite research sources.
We should also include a link to set up sync if they can download Firefox for Mobile.

There should also be a link to explore more add-ons in the "back to school" space. But, that's if it doesn't overwhelm the page.
LoFo should be able to help answer questions around existing FR experience and what other items are slotted in there.

I'm posting the shortlist of headlines from the download page bug here as well. Not sure if we want to use the same headline on both, but it might be a good opportunity to use an alt (I think "4 Tools for Back to School" works well here based on Lee's design). Below that there's tweaked copy for this page and short descriptions for each add-on (again, based on the design I saw earlier).
HEADLINE

My 2 cents (for both landing page and this promo): something that mentions "school" is probably best since this is targeting that particular audience and it makes the CTA more clear. Also, keeping in mind the formatting of the font and what piece we want highlighted in BOLD ALL CAPS :)
Hi all,
check out the my first pass at the First Run page. (apologies for going a little backwards - this will all settle just fine in the end:))

Lee, I think it looks great, and the headline addresses Tara's point in comment 5 nicely.
I think saying "back to school" overtly here makes a lot of sense, but I wonder if on the download page we would want something more benefit focused, as in "what's in it for me?" from the student's point of view. I think both "Spend Less Time Doing More" and "More School, Less Work" do that well.

Looking great Lee! Can't wait to see the rest.

Great start. Thanks Lee! My thoughts:
* I'd like to focus on the main landing page next (ideally first), so that we can see how the design turns out there, including the hero graphic, and how that would translate to this. We may need to lose the owl for example, or move things around so it ties in more with the landing page.
* I like this overall. But I also feel like the "burst" effect might not be as strong (personal opinion). It prefer to see something where the different add-ons are presented a little differently. Put simply: better organized. It's a fun design, but the information is a little scattered for me here. For example, I shouldn't have to click "learn more" on every single one (since I can't come back) to learn more. I should be able to learn more from this page... and if I'm clicking to another page, there should be an easy way to map back to the rest of the add-ons.
Hope that makes sense. Onward...!

I'd be hesitant to lose the owl, personally. I think it's a really strong graphic and we've been talking about using it in the snippet. Seems like it would be the linking visually theme throughout.

I have to disagree here. We're already giving them longer descriptions of the add-ons on the download page, where we have the space. Here, then, is an opportunity for them to link directly to the respective add-on pages (the "learn more" links), now that they have them installed, and delve deeper, since we don't really have the real estate on a First Run page to give them all that info. I do recognize the problem of them not being able to get back to this page, but I feel like we've had First Run pages with multiple "learn more" links before. Could we code those links so they automatically open in tabs? Or if we do end up creating a Back to School collection with these add-ons, could we just have one "learn more" link that points there?
Regardless, I don't think we should get into a crazy amount of detail on each add-on here, since things would start to get buy fast, and I like the more organic layout and flow. But let's see what the download page ends up looking like and go from there.

Fwiw, I like where this page is going. I like the owl, too. Maybe jump over to the download page next and then come back to this if we feel like revisions are necessary?

Sounds good. I dont' think we disagree, really. My main thing is that I would rather start with the main landing page, then work on the related promos... the landing page is key and should technically drive the creative on these vs. the other way around. I like the owl too and it's the strongest graphic we have, but we wont' know if he's the strongest or how to best use him until we do the main landing page. He's actually overpowering the page and promo (for me).
I definitely agree that we need to weave him in there so there's a visual tie-in across all assets. definitely.
On the BYOB FR copy. Agreed. I don't want to drill into a bunch of detail either. I think this promo solution is fine (and I like the suggestion of opening tabs vs. navigating away from this page, or pointing to the collections page on AMO) but it's hard to tell if this promo is good/done (for me) until I see the main landing page :)

Totally fair. Let's see what magic Lee comes up with for the download page. No pressure, Lee. But remember, we're all watching... ;)

I updated the design landing page bug, but I wanted to make a note here as well. Beard has asked that we punch up the not-for message in the copy where we can. Could be as simple as a "brought to you by the only not-for-profit browser"
let me know if you have questions about this and thanks!

We should swap out F1 and put Shareaholic in its place, like we did on the landing page. I'm also not sure if we're still keeping the link to "thousands more" add-ons. Other than that, I think we're good.
