I've visited pages where the Java plugin is required. Mozilla has installed it
2-3 times. Yet I still can't get into the page because the Java plugin is required.
This is the HTML that was requiring the plugin:

-> Plugins.
The problem is that you have to copy the java plugin files in the mozilla plugin
directory (or do a symlink on unix). We should do this automatically but it
fails more often than not. Please try this. Could you please also tell us what
buildID and OS you are using? Thanks,
Fabian.

Build ID 2001010901
Windows 98 4.10.1998
I've installed it using the jre.xpi and then symlinked it as such:
allahabad:/usr/local/mozilla/plugins# ls -l
total 955
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root davedash 2363 Feb 4 21:07 ShockwaveFlash.class
drwxr-sr-x 6 root davedash 1024 Feb 4 21:17 java2
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root davedash 947476 Feb 4 21:07 libflashplayer.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root davedash 44 Feb 5 15:23 libjavaplugin_oji.so ->
java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so
-rwxrwxr-x 1 root davedash 18654 Feb 2 22:30 libnullplugin.so
Am I missing something else here? about:plugins still only shows the default plugin
i think this is due to an already filed bug (that i'm unable to find currently)
regarding the change of the mozilla install directory structure from
mozilla/seamonkey to mozilla.org/mozilla. the jre xpi doesn't appear to be
configured to recognize that change, i think.
at the very worst, confirm with win32 installer 20010201.

I attempted to install the JAVA Plugin twice. In my Windows>Downloaded Program
Files folder I found the following:
PROGRAM NAME STATUS
DirectAnimation Classes Installed
Internet Explorer Classes for JAVA Installed
JAVA Runtime Environment 1.3.0_01 Damaged
JAVA Runtime Environment 1.3.0_01 Damaged
Microsoft XML Parser for Java Installed
Win32 Classes Installed
When the install ran it said everything was installed.....but guess not...
I hope this helps.
If you want I can WINZIP these files & send them to you.......
