User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:5.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0 Build ID: 20110615151330 Steps to reproduce: My Windows froze and had to be hard-rebooted, and after I was in Windows again I started Firefox. Actual results: It tried to restore my session automatically, and managed to get the tabs to appear with the right titles before freezing. After three minutes of waiting I finally just force-quit. Fortunately after I started Firefox again, this time it brought up the "Well this is embarrassing" error screen and let me go back to browsing normally. Expected results: Either it should have restored the session (and remained responsive while the pages loaded) or popped up the message saying it couldn't, right away.

How many Tabs were involved? Were they any special like Plugin Usage involved? Is the Behavior reproducible if you try? You could end Firefox' Process instead of resetting your PC. Maybe you can get/attach a WinDbg Log of the Hang? https://developer.mozilla.org/en/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_with_WinDbg

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:8.0a1) Gecko/20110807 Firefox/8.0a1 Could you reproduce this issue? What tabs did you have opened? Try to be more specific in the steps you took to find this issue! Thanks!

This is actually exactly what should have happened. Following the crash, Firefox attempted to restore the session automatically. It sounds like something in the session was causing Firefox to freeze (and when it's frozen we can't autodetect that... we're frozen). Then when Firefox was started again, we realized we crashed again and didn't try to restore automatically. Figuring out what was causing Firefox to hang would be good, but it doesn't sound like there's a session restore issue here.

Hmm, come to think of it, I did have a Flash Player pane in one of the tabs. You think that might have caused it?

Steve, you can test the idea by starting up without session being restored, and deselect the page using flash from about:sessionstore (or install flashblock addon) and then restore
